A woman in Poland discovered a rare stone in a field and kept it. Finally, after more than 50 years, archaeologists observed the stone and recognized it as a rare ancient artifact. The Monument Conservator of the Lublin Province stated in a news release on December 1 on Facebook that Mariusz Buczko recently visited his grandmother, who gave him a unique stone.

According to the statement, archaeologists recognize that this stone axe is a work of art from the Globular Amphora culture, estimated to have originated between 2,600 and 2,400 BC. The Globular Amphora culture is a relatively unknown group of people who lived during the late Neolithic period.

In general, their artifacts are often found in eastern Poland and Ukraine. However, the discovery of axes in Biłgoraj indicates that this group may have inhabited a wider area than previously known. Biłgoraj itself is located about 150 miles southeast of Warsaw and near the Poland-Ukraine border.

In Biłgoraj, there was a second important discovery, namely a local resident found a fragment of a stone axe in his farmland. A picture shows a piece of an axe with a cone-like shape, brown speckled color, and approximately 7.6 cm in length.
