Dream - M (30) online taxi driver, who allegedly extorted a female passenger worth Rp100 million, was finally arrested. He was apprehended at West Jakarta Police Station after allegedly threatening a woman named Cindy Aulia on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Several family members and his mother were seen crying hysterically as they bid farewell to M, their child. "My child, my dear, I'm sorry, I can't bear it," said the mother upon seeing M being taken into the police station, on Friday, March 29, 2024.

The incident happened briefly, the mother and the woman along with one boy who is a family member briefly hugged M with full of emotions, then let go of him to be taken by the officer.

As for M, he has been designated as a suspect, under Article 368 of the Indonesian Penal Code on Extortion and Threats, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 9 years.

It started with the victim ordering an online taxi and then departing with the alleged perpetrator who was the driver. However, during the journey in the Karang Tengah area, Tangerang City, Banten, the driver suddenly threatened the victim by demanding a transfer of Rp100 million. Because she refused, the victim tried to escape by jumping out of the car."
