The incident occurred on an All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight. The plane flew from Haneda Airport, Tokyo, Japan, to Seattle, United States. ANA Flight 118 departed from Haneda Airport at 21:47 local time on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. According to the flight tracking website, Flightradar24, the plane circled for about an hour during its journey.

According to CNN, an ANA spokesperson said that the male passenger was detained by the police after the plane landed in the capital of Japan. They did not mention his name. Meanwhile, the female flight attendant who was bitten by the passenger suffered minor injuries.

This case is not the first in aviation. In 2022, two passengers were fined heavily for hitting and biting cabin crew and other passengers on separate flights with US airlines American Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

Several incidents have been reported this month regarding bad behavior and aggression from passengers – including the American Airlines flight that was diverted to Texas airport on January 3rd after a passenger allegedly punched a flight attendant and attacked at least one police officer.
