Dream - At the end of the month of Ramadan, Muslims have an obligation to pay zakat fitrah. Zakat fitrah itself is wealth that is spent and then given to those who are eligible to receive it. The practice of giving zakat actually existed before the advent of Islam. However, at that time, it was not yet determined what kind of wealth should be made into zakat and how much zakat should be given. But now, zakat has specific regulations in Islam. So, Muslims only need to prepare it well and submit it at the right time.

Take from their wealth a charity to purify and cleanse them and pray for them. Indeed, your prayers are a comfort for them. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. (Quran, Surah At-Taubah: 103)

"Prophet Muhammad SAW obligated the payment of zakat fitrah, which is equivalent to one sa' of dates or one sa' of wheat, for the Muslim community, including both slaves and free individuals, males and females, young and old. He SAW commanded that it be paid before people go out to perform the Eid prayer." (Narrated by Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud)

Even Allah SWT threatens those who do not pay zakat as explained in Surah At-Taubah verses 34-35: "O believers, many of the rabbis and monks indeed consume people's wealth unjustly and hinder (them) from the path of Allah. Those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in the way of Allah, give them the 'good news' of a painful punishment."

On the day when (gold and silver) are heated in the Hellfire and branded onto their foreheads, stomachs, and backs, they will be told, "This is what you used to hoard for yourselves (without spending in charity). So taste what you used to hoard." (Quran, At-Taubah: 34-35) Through the above verse, Allah SWT threatens those who do not pay zakat, where they are people who have been blessed with wealth, but are stingy. They will receive punishment from Allah SWT in the Hereafter.

The purpose is that his worship is accepted and he receives rewards from Allah SWT. Here is the prayer for someone who pays zakat: أَجِرَكَ اللَّهُ فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَجَعَلَهُ لَكَ طَهُورًا وَبَارَكَ لَكَ فِيمَا أَبْقَيْتَ Meaning: "May Allah reward you for what you have given and make it a means of purification for you and bless you in what you have left behind." The provision for this prayer is based on the command of Allah SWT in the Qur'an. This is also reinforced by the existence of a hadith narrated by Abdullah bin Abu Aufa as follows:

"“When the Prophet, peace be upon him, had some people come to him bringing their zakat, he would say: اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى آلِ فُلَانٍ (O Allah, send blessings upon the family of so-and-so). Then my father came to pay his zakat, so he said: اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى آلِ أَبِي أَوْفَى (O Allah, send blessings upon the family of Abu Aufa).” (Narrated by Abu Dawud, no. 1356)"
