Dream - The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) officially launched the Driving License (SIM) C1 throughout Indonesia on Monday, May 27, 2024. SIM C1 is for riders of motorcycles with engines ranging from 250cc to 500cc.
The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Aan Suhanan, revealed that the C1 driving license is only for individuals who already possess a C driving license. "The production of the C1 license is for vehicles with engine capacity of 250-500cc. The requirement to obtain a C1 license is that one must already have a C license for at least 1 year before being eligible to apply for an upgrade in driving skills to C1," said Aan as quoted from Merdeka.com, Monday, May 27, 2024.
Aan conveyed, the Police SIM Administration Unit (Satpas) will also release SIM C2. In the future, this SIM will be used for motorcycle riders with vehicles specifications of 500 cc and above.

As for the form of the SIM C1 exam, it will have a model that is almost similar to the regular SIM C exam. However, there are several adjustments, namely in the track used for the test and the motorcycle used during the test in accordance with the applicable CC provisions for each type of SIM. It is revealed that the inauguration of this SIM C1 is a form of hope from the Indonesian National Police (Polri) so that traffic accidents can be reduced. Especially by filtering out riders who truly have good driving competence.
"In the afternoon today we are launching SIM C1 with competencies for vehicles of 250cc and above or up to 500cc, hopefully this will also contribute to creating safe drivers, in order to reduce the number of traffic accidents in the future," said Aan.
