"Yesterday, after the wave of university petitions, we felt a subliminal conflict between academics and the regime. Unfortunately, some of our academic community were also caught in the midst of this conflict. This is not solely the fault of Mr. Tik (Pratikno) and Mr. Ari," said Rubiansyah. "Nevertheless, we are aware that our two teachers have become part of the nation's problem. Mr. Tik and Mr. Ari teach democracy in class, but what they teach does not align with their practice," he continued.

Therefore, the UGM DPP sincerely apologizes for the involvement of their academic community in the recent setback of democracy in Indonesia. Rubiansyah, representing the academic community of DPP, also urges Pratikno and Ari Dwipayana to 'return home' to UGM and become academics and guardians of democracy.

"Today we shout out, Mr. Tik and Mas Ari, come back home. Come back to accompany those left behind, those oppressed, those marginalized," said Rubiansyah. "Mr. Tik and Mas Ari, come back to democracy. Come back to teach us with words and actions," he added.
