Juan admitted that he felt powerless at the time. He admitted that his body was just walking on its own without being able to be controlled. He also admitted that he had tried various diets but none of them succeeded in losing his weight. "My body just follows its own path without any control. I tried dieting day by day, but nothing worked and I became desperate," said Juan, quoted from Mirror.

Juan tried various diets without results and felt desperate. However, after seeking help, an obesity specialist in Guadalajara suggested undergoing surgery. The surgery became an important step for Juan. Besides obesity, he also suffered from type-2 diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, hypertension, and fluid in his lungs.
