Dream - Sujud syukur (prostration of gratitude) is one of the ways Muslims glorify the Creator, Allah SWT, who has bestowed various blessings upon His servants. The blessings given by Allah SWT are too numerous for humans to count. Without ever being able to repay them, the Almighty only asks humans to always obey His commands. Gratitude is what we should always have and practice at all times. Islam also teaches the proper way to perform sujud syukur along with the accompanying prayers.

The virtue of prostration of gratitude is a form of acknowledgment of the greatness of Allah and gratitude for all the blessings bestowed upon His servants. Prostration of gratitude also serves as a means to strengthen the relationship between the servant and Allah SWT. Prostration of gratitude should be performed when one feels a great blessing or grace from Allah, so that a deep sense of gratitude arises in the heart.

This can happen in various situations, such as after successfully passing a difficult exam, recovering from an illness, receiving abundant blessings, or achieving success in something. In Islam, prostration of gratitude is assumed to be a sincere expression of gratitude to Allah SWT, so performing prostration of gratitude is highly recommended. Prostration of gratitude carries the meaning that everything that happens is by the permission and will of Allah, so as grateful servants, we must express that gratitude by performing prostration of gratitude.

The reason why we should perform prostration of gratitude is based on the Quranic verse stating that Allah created humans from soil, then from semen, and then Allah made humans as perfect creatures. The main points from the previous verse indicate that humans have been given the blessing of perfect creation by Allah and therefore, humans should express gratitude through prostration of gratitude.

The importance of prostration of gratitude in daily life is to maintain our awareness of the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon us. By performing prostration of gratitude, we let go of arrogance and worldly desires, and demonstrate our obedience and submission to Allah. This can also help us to maintain a humble attitude and be grateful for the blessings we receive, so that we do not become negligent and continuously express gratitude for all the blessings that Allah has given us.

Performing prostration of gratitude has great wisdom, including as an expression of gratitude for the blessings received. Then it becomes a form of obedience to Allah SWT, an increase in faith and love for Allah, and as a means to draw closer to Him. By performing prostration of gratitude, a person will also come to understand that everything that happens is by the permission and will of Allah, so gratitude and contentment towards His destiny will continue to grow in the heart.

Sajada wajhiya lil ladzī khalaqahū wa shawwarahū wa syaqqa sam‘ahū wa basharahū bi haulihī wa quwwatihī fa tabārakallāhu ahsanul khāliqīna. Artinya: "I prostrate my face to the One who created and formed it, opened its hearing and sight with His power and strength. Blessed is Allah, the best of creators."
