Dream - One or two weeks before the day of Hari Raya Lebaran, Indonesian citizens flock to return or go back to their hometown. They use land, sea, and air transportation in order to gather with their beloved family during Idul Fitri.
The only mode of air transportation, namely airplanes, becomes the choice for some travelers when going back to their hometown. Unfortunately, as the days approach the Eid holiday, the prices of airplane tickets usually increase drastically.
As a result, many travelers were disappointed because they could no longer afford to buy those expensive airplane tickets. One of the disappointed travelers due to the high price of airplane tickets is an influencer from Aceh named Reza Alwi Mufti.
The owner of the Instagram account @dekjaw, who often travels around the archipelago, feels the high cost of the 2024 Lebaran flight tickets. However, he has a trick to make the cost of going home to his house in Aceh affordable. Influencer, who is familiarly called Dekjaw Sabar, takes a transit flight through Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, before heading to Aceh.
Dekjaw had to bring a passport in order to be able to go back to his hometown at a much cheaper cost. "Going back to the hometown must use a passport, guys," said Dekjaw Sabar in a video shared on Instagram @undercover.id.
In the video, Dekjaw can be seen walking towards the departure terminal before boarding the flight to Kuala Lumpur. Dekjaw admitted that it seems like he is the only one who has to bring a passport every time he goes back to his hometown. "Do you guys use a passport when going back to your hometown? It seems like it's just me," he said while showing the passport in his hand.
Dekjaw then complained about the expensive price of domestic plane tickets every approaching Lebaran. "It's a pity for us residents of remote areas, we have to use a passport to go back to our hometown," he said with a smile.
Dekjaw seemed to criticize the government, especially the Ministry of Transportation, regarding the airplane ticket prices every time during Lebaran. "Even though we are still in Indonesia, right?" complained Dekjaw.
Next, Dekjaw will give tips on how to get cheaper Lebaran plane tickets than the normal price in Indonesia. So, in order to get cheaper plane tickets, Dekjaw flies from Jakarta before transit in Kuala Lumpur. After Kuala Lumpur, Dekjaw will continue the flight to his hometown in Aceh.
"Because for example, if I buy (plane tickets) from Jakarta to directly arrive in Aceh, it's really expensive," he said.
The experience of travelers who have to bring their passports when returning to their hometown before Eid has gone viral and invited various comments from netizens. "I have also experienced that, but the opposite, from Aceh to Jakarta but transiting in Kuala Lumpur. It's cheaper by a difference of 1.2 million." "I just experienced it, Aceh-KL-Bali transit in KL only costs 1.6 million. If you take the domestic one, it can cost 2-3+++ million." "Wow, this is exactly the same. My family of five wants to go to Medan via KL first. Even with the additional cost for passports, it's still more cost-effective \ud83d\ude05."
Unexpectedly, the departure of the domestic worker returning to her hometown actually leaves deep sadness for the employer and their children.
