Not only Earth has mountains, but Planet Mars also has its own mountain formations. In fact, on this red planet, there is the largest volcano in the Solar System. Olympus Mons, the tallest mountain in the Solar System, is located on the planet often referred to as the red planet, Mars. Among all the mountain peaks on Olympus Mons, there is one peak that reaches a height of 25 kilometers above the surface of Mars.

Olympus Mons is classified as a shield volcano, which is formed by the slow flow of lava along its sides, unlike typical volcanoes that release liquid material suddenly. This creates the appearance of Olympus Mons, which tends to be low and gentle, with an average slope of only about 5 percent. Olympus Mons, the tallest volcano in the Solar System, has the ability to hold rock glaciers or frozen rock debris deposits.

Jacob Bleacher, a scientist from Arizona State University and NASA, stated, "Just like on Earth, where the Hawaiian islands are built by erupting volcanoes as the Earth's crust slides over hot spots, our research increases the possibility that a similar situation could occur on Mars, where pockets of magma may move beneath the stationary crust." The existence of such glaciers could be caused by the accumulation of snow and ice on the top of mountain shields.
