Dream - Recently, a Malaysian woman expressed her disappointment on social media X or formerly known as Twitter. She questioned her friend who got married by showing her aurat. Covering aurat is indeed obligatory in Islam, both for men and women.
The woman admitted to being puzzled by the behavior of the bride who wore a short hijab during the wedding ceremony. Through the tweet, she also advised other prospective brides to pay attention to their modesty.
The problem is that the wedding ceremony that is held will surely involve many male guests. "It's sad to see your friends getting married, their hijabs are definitely above the chest. It seems like it has become an obligation. For those who are not married yet, please maintain the issue of modesty on your special day. Modesty remains modest," he said.
The reprimand received various reactions from X users. They each expressed their own views on the raised issue. Instead of supporting, some X users even questioned the way the woman reprimanded.
They consider the reprimand delivered to not protect their friend's dignity even though the woman was also present at the event.
"Not respecting your own friend. It's better to approach and whisper in their ear like in the advertisement. Why expose their flaws here (X), to embarrass them? Luckily your friend is not in X," attacked a netizen. Another netizen said that the reminder about covering one's aura is correct. Just don't overdo it to the point of feeling sad about everything. "Your sadness is only at the level of social media. You should ask yourself 'what have I done for my friend?'" said another netizen."
Although the way the woman expressed her criticism received backlash, there were also netizens who supported her actions. Netizens believe that as fellow Muslims, it is an obligation to remind each other.
"Reprimand him. Now, if there are friends, siblings, or cousins who get married, I also reprimand them. Whether they accept it or not, that's another story," commented netizen.
"While other netizens are wondering why the woman's reprimand received a lot of criticism. 'Why can't she give advice? She didn't mention any of her friends' names and didn't embarrass them either. Besides, this is a general reprimand.' Nowadays, if we reprimand someone for their own good, it is considered old-fashioned, nosy, and there are always people defending them. In the end, we are the ones who suffer. But if we don't reprimand, we will be questioned there (in the afterlife). So, we must reprimand in this way."
While the woman hopes her post becomes a lesson for Muslim brides, especially female brides. "Hopefully it reaches those who are willing to get married so that they can open their hearts to cover their bodies properly," she said.
