"Dream - A tourist experienced a terrifying incident after stealing a stone in the ancient city of Pompeii in Italy, which is famous for its mystical stories. Quoted from NDTV, the unnamed woman claimed to be traumatized and wrote her story in a letter."
He said he didn't know about the curse myth from the ancient city. However, he felt strange things after returning from vacation in Pompeii. It was not explained when the tourist had vacationed in Pompeii. He only mentioned that a series of strange events had occurred to him in the past year.
"Everything began when he went on vacation to Pompeii and was amazed by the site. He then brought home some stones from the lost city that was swept away by the tsunami and the eruption of the mountain as souvenirs."
The law states that the action constitutes theft because tourists are prohibited from taking and leaving anything in the city that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. "I didn't know about the curse. I didn't know that I wasn't allowed to take anything. Within a year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am a young and healthy woman, and the doctor said it was 'bad luck.' I am sorry," she wrote in a letter.
The letter was sent by the tourist along with three stones that he took. The photo of the letter was shared by the Person in Charge of the Pompeii Archaeological Park. "The sender of this letter did not mention his name, the pumice stone has arrived in Pompeii. Now, good luck to you in the future," said the spokesperson for the archaeological park.
The return of these Pompeii collection items is not the first time it has happened. In 2020, a tourist returned several artifacts that she had stolen from Pompeii during her visit to the city. The tourist's name is Nicole, and she is from Canada. She sent two mosaic tiles, an amphora stone, and a piece of ceramic to a travel agency in Pompeii. Along with the stone, Nicole also sent a letter of acknowledgment.
"I want to have a history that cannot be bought. I take a piece of history that has crystallized over time and has a lot of negative energy within it," wrote Nicole.
"He admitted that at that time he was still young and foolish. He did not realize that the stones were remnants of the horrific events suffered by the people of Pompeii. "Since then, bad luck has befallen me and my family. I took a historical artifact that has a lot of negative energy. People died in terrible ways and I took pieces related to that destruction," he explained."
"Nicole also shared that she has suffered from breast cancer twice. She had to undergo a double mastectomy, and her family also faced financial difficulties. According to historical records, the city of Pompeii and its inhabitants were buried under volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. The remnants of this city have become a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are protected by the Italian government."
