Dream - A video shows students and residents hanging on a slanting bridge that is almost broken in Sukabumi, West Java. The bridge is slanting because it was hit by a flood on June 29, 2024.
Village Connecting Bridge
The bridge connects between Cigirang Village, Neglasari Village, Lengkong District with Pamoyanan Village, Bantarpanjang Village, Jampang Tengah District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.
"The bridge serves as an access to agriculture, education, and most of its users are residents of Desa Neglasari," said the Chairman of DPC Jampang Tandang Makalangan Lengkong, Suparman, as quoted from Sukabumi Update, Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Suparman mentioned that they have built a temporary bamboo bridge measuring 30 meters in Kampung Cadasngampar."
Total there are five damaged bridges in the village due to the overflow of Cikaso River. These five bridges are located in Tegaldatar Village, Cadasngampar, Cigirang, and Babakan Bantarsari.
"Two bamboo bridges in Tegaldatar Village, one bamboo bridge in Cadasngampar Village, one iron suspension bridge in Cigirang Village, and one iron suspension bridge in Babakan Bantarsari Village. All of them are connecting access between Neglasari Village and Bantarpanjang Village, Jampangtengah District."

"So the most important thing is that there are two broken suspension bridges made of iron material. Both of them are located in Kampung Babakan Bantarsari, where they are connected to Kampung Bantarpanjang, Desa Bantarpanjang. Then, one more in Kampung Cigirang (Neglasari Village), connected to Kampung Panyumputan and Kampung Pamoyanan, Desa Bantarpanjang,"

According to Candra, the bridge in Kampung Cigirang is approximately 35 meters long and can be crossed by motorcycles. This bridge also serves as an access to education. There are 40 elementary school students from Kampung Cigirang who study at SD Pamoyanan, Bantarpanjang Village.
As a result, they have to hang on to the broken iron frame of the bridge to go to school. "Not yet the students of Islamic Junior High School/Secondary School and the students of Islamic Senior High School/High School in Jampangtengah. The number of households (HH) in Cigirang Village is almost 600 HH. Meanwhile, in Panyumputan Village, there are 400 HH. (Another solution) currently, students have to go around to school with a distance of about 15 kilometers," he said.
