Getting to know D915, the deadliest road in the world.
D915 is an extreme road considered to be the most difficult road by drivers around the world. This road stretches for 65 miles or 105 km between the cities of Of and Bayburt Turnik Timur. According to some adventurers, this route is less popular, even though it is actually more dangerous than the Yungas road in Bolivia, which has long been known as the "road of death". This road connects the Northeastern Anatolia region of Turkey to the Black Sea. The D915 mountain road has many dangerous bends and descents.
According to legend, the D915 road was built by the Russian army using only hand tools. Although some parts at each end have been paved with asphalt, the majority of it is still made up of loose gravel. Initially, D915 doesn't appear too extreme, but as you travel from both ends, asphalt is replaced by gravel and the road becomes increasingly narrow and steep.
he translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving any html tags is as follows: Jalan D915 has a total of 38 sharp turns. The most famous turn on this road is Derebaşı Turns. Among the several turns on this road, there are 17 turns that stretch for 3.2 miles (5.1 km), from an elevation of 1,712 m to 2,035 m above sea level, with a gradient reaching its peak at 17%
This road does not have any dividing fence, while the steepest part of the road is very narrow, so it cannot be passed by 2 vehicles from opposite sides and requires one of the vehicles to reverse first to make way for the other vehicle. Despite being a dangerous road, D915 is a relatively busy alternative route used by hundreds of local residents every day. D915 is not a circular road, so this road is preferred.
