Dream - Tourists from Indonesia also contribute to the growth of Hong Kong's tourism. In 2023, Hong Kong welcomed more than 252,000 Indonesian tourists, recording a recovery of 56% compared to pre-pandemic arrivals.
Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) said that the positive momentum continued until February 2024, with the number of arrivals reaching 101% compared to the same period before the pandemic.
With a population of around 270 million people, which accounts for more than 40% of the Southeast Asian population, Muslim tourists from Indonesia are considered to continue being an important segment of tourists.
"In the coming years, HKTB will enhance efforts to position Hong Kong as a Muslim-friendly destination."
HKTB will work with partners in Hong Kong to educate stakeholders in Hong Kong about the needs of Muslim tourists and enhance Muslim-friendly initiatives.
HKTB will also produce different promotional materials and enhance its website content to attract more Muslim tourists to visit Hong Kong.
By providing Muslim-friendly services and facilities, HKTB ensures that every visit to Hong Kong is an unforgettable experience for Muslim travelers.
"We are very excited to continue enhancing the tourist experience in Hong Kong through Muslim-friendly initiatives, as well as starting strategic partnerships with our tourism industry partners to reach Indonesian consumers.
