Dream - Several regions in every region of Indonesia have their own steps to reduce plastic waste. One of them is in the Banyumas area which has successfully found a creative strategy to reduce plastic waste by transforming it into paving blocks.
Led by the Regent of Banyumas, Achmad Husein, a program is being made to process plastic waste into something useful and valuable, one of which is paving block.
The paving block made from plastic waste is installed on Bung Karno Street, Purwokerto.
The object that resembles a brick is made from inorganic waste found in the Banyumas region.
The Regent of Banyumas, Achmad Husein, initiated the making of this paving block to reduce plastic waste so that it can be useful.
Quoting blog.bem-unsoed.com, Banyumas itself produces 60 tons of plastic waste per day. This effort is expected to reduce the problem of plastic waste in Banyumas.
Paving blocks are produced by the Community Empowerment Group (KSM) that manages the Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST).
"For the manufacturing process, plastic waste is first heated to a temperature of 300 degrees Celsius until it transforms into dough."
Then the dough is immediately put into the paving block printing machine. The advantage of plastic paving blocks is that they have stronger quality compared to using ordinary bricks.
