What is Eyelash Extension?
Before discussing its legality, eyelash extension itself is a beauty procedure carried out to attach natural eyelashes to fake ones in order to make them more curly, long, and voluminous.
Usually, the eyelashes that are attached only last for about 2 months before gradually falling out. People who want their eyelash extensions to last longer can do regular retouches.
Although it can enhance one's appearance, eyelash extensions can cause irritation, baldness on the waterline of the eyes, and allergies in some people. Dream friends should be cautious when considering this treatment.
"What is the ruling in Islam?"
In Islam, eyelash extension is considered the same as hair extension. While hair extension itself is prohibited in Islam, according to the saying of Prophet Muhammad SAW: "May Allah curse Al-washilah (the one who extends hair) and Al-mustaushilah (the one who asks for hair to be extended)." (HR. Bukhari and Muslim)
Forbidden to do it
The hadith is explained by Imam Nawawi in the Commentary on Sahih Muslim that al-Washilah itself is a person who professionally connects women's hair with other hair. Meanwhile, al-Mustaushilah is a woman who asks for her hair to be connected. The hadith clearly shows the prohibition of connecting hair, and a curse for women who professionally connect hair and consumers whose hair is connected unconditionally.
