In this visit, Apple revealed plans to invest Rp1.6 trillion in Indonesia. The value of the investment is not in the form of factory construction but in the development of human resources in Indonesia.
The intended training program is called Apple Developer Academy. Recently, it officially launched the Apple Developer Academy Indonesia in Bali. The existing Apple Developer Academy programs in Surabaya, Batam, and Jakarta have been attended by more than 2,000 aspiring developers.
"Rp 1.2 trillion for three academies (Apple Developer Academy in Jakarta, Surabaya, and Batam). If one more is added in Bali, it will be Rp 1.6 trillion," said Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi quoted from Liputan6.com, Thursday, April 18, 2024."
Before visiting Indonesia, Tim Cook is known to have visited Vietnam. Unlike in Indonesia, the bitten apple logo company has already been present in that country. The evidence is that Apple plans to increase its investment in Vietnam.
Apple announced that they will allocate more funds for their component suppliers in Vietnam. Currently, Apple is known to have spent around 400 trillion dong or approximately Rp256 trillion on their supply chain suppliers in Vietnam.
"Not only that, the company also claims that the investments made in Vietnam have created around 200,000 job opportunities. This number includes direct employment, suppliers, and application developers. As a follow-up to this plan, Vietnam has stated that it will establish a task force to support Apple's investments."
