Dream - More than 4,600 Palestinian citizens were killed in the brutal attacks carried out by the Israeli government. The Zionist state claims that the retaliatory attacks they launched only targeted Hamas members who were accused of killing more than 1,400 people in the attacks in Southern Israel on October 7th.
Not only military attacks, Israel also cut off food supplies, fuel, and electricity before launching bombings. However, Israel's actions did not prevent a number of countries from sending their assistance to Palestine. Here is a list of countries that have sent humanitarian aid to Palestine.
1. Turkey to Tunisia According to Al-Jazeera, a total of eight planes carrying aid from Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, and Tunisia landed at El Arish International Airport in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt. 2. India India has also sent medical and disaster relief aid to El Arish on Sunday (October 22, 2023). 3. Rwanda Although not a wealthy country, Rwanda has sent 16 tons of humanitarian aid to the most affected residents of Gaza due to Israel's retaliatory attacks.
4. European UnionThe European Union has launched an air bridge and has doubled its assistance to the region. However, several European Union countries, including Germany, Denmark, and Sweden, have temporarily halted aid to Gaza in response to Hamas attacks.
How many trucks have entered Gaza so far? The first convoy consisting of 20 trucks crossed from Egypt to Gaza on Saturday (October 21, 2023), and the second convoy arrived the day after. Then, more than 200 trucks carrying around 3,000 tons of aid have been positioned near the crossing on the Egyptian side, and are waiting for Israel's approval to enter Gaza.
However, UNICEF representative in Egypt, Jeremy Hopkins, stated that the amount is not enough to meet the needs of the community in Gaza. According to the observation of this UN organization, there are at least 100 or 200 trucks entering per day to provide humanitarian assistance.
What kind of aid was sent to Gaza? The aid convoy has brought medical supplies from the World Health Organization (WHO), such as bandages, anesthesia drugs, and painkillers. The trucks also transported food, including canned tuna, tomato paste, and wheat flour. They also carried packaged drinking water. The first convoy brought enough water for 27,000 people for one day, and the second convoy brought enough water for 22,000 people for one day.
The Indonesian government itself has not officially announced any humanitarian aid to Gaza. However, the community has flocked to help Palestine in various ways, one of which is through donations raised by ARMY Indonesia (BTS fans). ARMY Indonesia has successfully raised donations of more than Rp1 billion for Palestine. Referring to the solusipeduli.org page, the donation, which was opened since October 18, 2023, was closed on Monday, October 23, 2023, and managed to collect donations amounting to Rp1,020,516,414.
Help for Palestine enters through the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza, which requires Israel's approval. Israel has stated that it will not prevent humanitarian aid from entering Gaza through Egypt, after pressure from its international allies to ease its 10-day blockade in the Palestinian territory. Trucks are waiting outside the border so that they can enter Gaza whenever the border is opened.
