"Jokowi Allows the Public to Pawn Land Certificates, But There Are Conditions"

"Dream - Jokowi allows the public to pawn their land certificates. However, the president, whose full name is Joko Widodo, advised that the reason for pawning the certificate should be for productive activities. Not only that, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta also warned that the public who pawn their certificates should be able to pay the installments. Jokowi conveyed this message at the Land Certificate Distribution Event for the People of East Java Province at GOR Delta, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java."

“if you want this certificate to be educated, please educate it, it’s fine, but I really ask to be calculated, educated for what,”

"according to Jokowi, quoted from Liputan6.com, Thursday, December 28, 2023."

“Kalau ingin sertifikat ini disekolahkan, silakan disekolahkan tidak apa-apa, tetapi saya minta betul-betul dihitung, disekolahkan untuk apa,”

"Jokowi asks the public to really calculate first the sources of income and the ability to pay installments and loan interest. This must be done before deciding to mortgage the land certificates that were just symbolically distributed by the President to 4,000 citizens in East Java."

“However, still calculate carefully how much you want to borrow, Rp10 million, Rp100 million, Rp200 million calculated, can you pay the monthly installments, can you pay the installments plus the interest? Don’t let it happen that you already hold the certificate because it wasn’t calculated, not calculated, borrowed, given, but after 6 months you can’t pay the installments to the bank and finally the certificate is lost. Don’t let that happen,”

Jokowi Allows the Public to Pawn Land Certificates, But There Are Conditions

"Jokowi stated that there are 4,000 certificates consisting of 3,200 land certificates from the PTSL program and 800 recipients of land redistribution certificates that were distributed."

The activity is an effort by the government through the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) to provide legal proof of land rights to landowners in the community.

Jokowi Allows the Public to Pawn Land Certificates, But There Are Conditions

"Jokowi admitted that he would be disappointed if the government's efforts were wasted because the public was not wise in pawning land certificates and determining loan amounts."

"Please use this as collateral, but once again, everything must be calculated. If you sell something, how much is the income from the sale, how much is the profit, can it be paid in installments, can it be paid off, everything is calculated. I don’t want the certificate, after working hard to prepare this, to be seized by the bank, no, I want this certificate to bring prosperity,""

The translation of "tegas Jokowi." to English is "firm Jokowi."

The Ministry of ATR/BPN has recorded the progress of land registration in Indonesia itself, from a total target of 126 million plots of land, so far 110 million plots of land have been registered, of which 90.1 million plots of land have been certified. Meanwhile, for East Java, from the estimated total number of plots of land of 19.9 million plots, 16.5 million of them have been registered and there are 3.4 million plots of land that have not been registered.

"From the land registration process, there is an increase in economic value. Since it was implemented in 2017, the increase in economic value from land certification has reached Rp6,066.7 trillion, and 96 percent of it circulates in the community through Mortgage Rights. Specifically, the increase in economic value in East Java alone in 2022 reached Rp116.6 trillion, and 95 percent of it circulates in the community through Mortgage Rights."
