"Dream - Choosing a college major needs to be thought out carefully so that one does not regret it in the future. In addition to the field of study that interests you, other considerations include calculating job opportunities and salary levels in the future. Unfortunately, many students often regret choosing a certain college major due to job prospects that do not meet their expectations. This is based on a survey conducted by the job market and business platform in the United States, ZipRecruiter, which involved 2,000 college graduates who are applying for jobs."

The research aims to understand how alumni from the campus feel about their chosen majors during their studies as they attempt to find their career fortunes. Based on the survey, 44 percent of respondents admitted to being disappointed with the major they chose. There are several reasons why students may regret their chosen majors. Some reasons include students feeling they chose the wrong major because the process was perceived as difficult. Another reason is that after graduating, it turns out that the job prospects are limited and the salaries received are low.

Low Salary, 16 College Majors Most Regretted by Graduates

According to CNBC, graduates with a liberal arts degree tend to be paid less for various reasons. One of them is that their skills are not directly related to generating income, even though their work is beneficial to society.

The other factor is that job offers with good salaries are too few compared to the number of graduates each year, such as with fine arts degrees. With this condition, the lack of demand can lower wages. Education majors also tend to be paid less. Although the teaching profession offers good job security, summer vacations, and retirement, these employees are usually paid by state governments at levels that often lag behind the rate of inflation.

"Unfortunately for teachers, they do not fare better later in their careers. Those aged 35 to 45 with education degrees have the lowest salaries among all majors. According to CNBC, here are the majors whose graduates receive low salaries at the start of their careers:
Liberal Arts
Performing Arts
Theology
Tourism and Hospitality
General Social Sciences
History
Biology"
