"So even low skilled migrants have proven that society or humans move to other countries because they want to earn better income, higher welfare, 500 percent more than if they stayed in Indonesia,"

According to him, this increase percentage is among the highest compared to other migrants originating from countries other than Indonesia. Although, there are several other factors that also contribute.

Amalia refers to the World Development Report 2023 published by the World Bank. The report states that migration is mostly carried out by people from middle-income and low-income countries to countries that are better off. The impact of this migration is said to not only affect the economic level but also the social level. Not only for the destination country but also for the countries that are passed through or transit.

Migration also affects the decrease in poverty rates in the country of origin. Amalia assumes that with the increase in income, migrant families in the country of origin will also benefit from it.

"From the remittance side, World Bank reports also show that money sent by migrant workers to their families actually has an impact on reducing poverty in the country where those families live."
