The airline used a Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft on the route from Portland, Oregon to Ontario, California. Fortunately, there were no passengers near the detached window.

However, after 20 minutes of flight when the plane was in the sky, a passenger named Evan Smith said that he heard an explosion sound on the left side of the plane. "There was a very loud explosion on the left rear of the plane, and then there was a 'woosh' sound and all the air masks dropped from the cabin," said Evan Smith.

The terrifying incident also almost claimed a victim. Evan Smith witnessed a child almost becoming a victim as they were sucked out of the plane. Even the child's clothes were momentarily detached. Fortunately, the mother managed to hold on and was not carried away. However, the child suffered minor injuries due to sudden decompression.

"We are in an emergency situation. We are experiencing air pressure problems, so we have to return," said the pilot. The plane finally landed back in Portland. All passengers and cabin crew are safe without any significant issues."

Alaska Airlines prohibits flying its 65 Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft. Alaska Airlines has also decided to temporarily ground its fleet. "Following tonight's incident on Flight 1282, we have decided to take precautionary measures by temporarily grounding our fleet of 65 Boeing 737-9 aircraft," said Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci.
