Dream - Tesla shareholders agreed to give a salary package to Tesla CEO Elon Musk worth US$56 billion or around Rp917.5 trillion (exchange rate Rp16,384 per US$).
According to Reuters, the approval of the salary package was finally agreed upon on Thursday, June 13, 2024, despite initial objections from large institutional investors and proxy companies.
At the annual shareholders meeting in Austin, Texas, Musk described himself as a very optimistic person.
"If I wasn't optimistic, this wouldn't exist, this factory wouldn't exist," said Musk amidst applause. "But in the end, I succeeded. That's what matters," he continued.
However, the agreement has not resolved the lawsuit over the salary package filed in the Delaware court, which according to several legal experts, could last for months. The judge revoked Elon Musk's salary package in January, calling it "unreasonable."
"Musk may also face new legal demands regarding the package, which will be the largest in the history of the United States company. Shareholders themselves voted for this package in 2018. 'This is not over,' said Brian Quinn, a professor at Boston College Law School."
Judge Delaware will examine the voting process and ask Tesla to prove that the process was not coerced or improperly influenced by Musk.
In addition, shareholders also approved the proposal to relocate the company's headquarters from Delaware to Texas. Then they also approved other proposals, including the re-election of two board members, Kimbal Musk and James Murdoch.
Tesla on Thursday did not disclose the vote count, which is expected to be revealed in the coming days. At least half a million viewers witnessed the meeting through a live broadcast on social media platform X, and around 40,000 watched on YouTube.
