Dream - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has received public criticism because the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) in Surabaya was successfully hacked by the Brain Cipher ransomware. The cyber attack targeted the central and regional data of the Ministries/Agencies (K/L).

The redemption is truly fantastic, but the Indonesian government refuses to pay the ransom. The amount turns out to be only a few percent of the ransom that was proposed to the United States company.

Quoting information from Merdeka.com, the highest ransom cyber attack occurred on the largest IT technology company from the United States (US), Kaseya, in the previous year 2021.

Hacker demands a ransom from Kaseya amounting to US$70 million or Rp1,145 trillion in the form of cryptocurrency. This ransom demand is the largest in history.

Not only that, the company has also released compromise detection tools, to help companies understand whether their systems are directly affected and has also produced runbooks for local and SaaS customers.
