Dream - Saudi Arabia launches the world's first driverless flying taxi to be used by pilgrims during the peak of the 2024 Hajj. The Minister of Transportation and Logistics, as well as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Saleh Al-Jasser, inaugurated this electric flying taxi service on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
This service will be tested to transport pilgrims between Mina, Muzdalifah, and Arafah, during this year's Hajj. GACA Chairman Al-Duailej said that this flying taxi will be used during the Hajj season for emergency services as well as for transporting goods and health supplies for pilgrims in the Holy Land.

Flying taxis will also transport medical equipment and provide logistics services and emergency services for Hajj pilgrims. Al-Jasser stated that the launch of these flying taxis is part of the transportation and logistics system initiative. These flying taxis adopt future transportation technology.
"With a new and innovative environmentally friendly transportation model that utilizes artificial intelligence. This initiative supports the sustainability of the modern transportation sector and achieves the goals of the National Transportation and Logistics Service Strategy in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030. 'The National Transportation and Logistics Service Strategy initiative and projects strive to utilize modern and advanced technology, whether it be air taxis, electric cars, or hydrogen trains,' he said."
Al-Jasser also emphasized that his ministry is striving to enhance the field of smart mobility. He is also developing laws and regulations that enable the use of modern technology. The use of flying taxis is one of the 32 modern technologies implemented in this year's Hajj pilgrimage.
This initiative is part of the system's efforts to adopt modern technology and offer the best services to the Hajj pilgrims.
