Dream -  After more than 2 years of closure due to the global pandemic, Galeri Indonesia Kaya (GIK) is reopening. With a new arrangement and ready to greet art enthusiasts with #GIKwajahbaru.  Galeri Indonesia Kaya is an Indonesian cultural edutainment space located in Grand Indonesia Mall.

“GIK is the first and only public space in Indonesia that combines education with digital multimedia to introduce the diverse Indonesian culture in a fun and open way, accessible to the public, and definitely free of charge,” said Renitasari Adrian, a Program Director at Galeri Indonesia Kaya during the Re-Opening Ceremony of GIK at West Mall Grand Indonesia on May 12, 2023.

As a cultural stage, GIK provides a performance space in the form of an auditorium where artists can engage in various activities such as workshops, dance, theater, monologues, music performances, literary appreciation, film screenings, and more. Every artist has an equal opportunity to use the auditorium for rehearsals and performances.

“In addition to being available to the general public, GIK also presents featured performances held every Saturday at 3:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time) and will be broadcasted the next day through the IndonesiaKaya YouTube account. This is one of our missions to allow art enthusiasts outside Jakarta and its surrounding areas to still witness various performances at GIK virtually,” said Renitasari.

GIK also serves as a cultural stage that can be used by various creative communities to showcase their works to the public. This is a form of support to create and develop more creative individuals in Indonesian society, especially among young people.

In addition to showcasing various Indonesian cultures on the cultural auditorium stage, GIK's design concept still highlights Indonesia's identity with a contemporary touch of rattan interior featuring motifs of bamboo shoots and cape jasmine, as well as parang motifs.
