Toyota Showcases Agya and Agya GR Sport Transformations After a Decade, Take a Look at the Appearance

Dream - PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) introduced (prototype) the All New Toyota Agya and Toyota Agya Sport after almost a decade, with two different models and segments.

The Agya still plays its role in supporting consumer mobility, while the Agya GR Sport is intended for sporty-minded customers who want a car with sports-like performance. 

President Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), Hiroyuki Ueda, said that Toyota has transformed the Agya in accordance with the evolving needs of customers in Indonesia. One of them is the Agya GR Sport with its handling performance. 

"In line with the Mobility for All commitment, Toyota enhances the value that makes this hatchback superior by embedding the latest Toyota technology based on the advanced human-centered approach concept," said President Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Hiroyuki Ueda, in the World Premiere All new astra Toyota Agya and Toyota Agya GR Sport in Jakarta, Monday, February 13, 2023.

Transformation of All New Agya

Overall improvements have been made by Toyota to the Agya to improve engine efficiency and save fuel, with better performance. 

The Agya is equipped with a new WA-VE engine with a displacement of 1,200 cc, 3-cylinder Dual VVT-i that produces 88 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 11.52 Kgm of torque at 4,500 rpm. The engine power is transmitted to the front wheels using a more compact, compact, and efficient CVT transmission.

The 3-cylinder engine is claimed to be efficient in processing fuel, resulting in more fuel-efficient consumption and producing higher torque than a 4-cylinder engine of the same volume. 

Toyota also emphasizes the "Exciting City Car" concept, the monocoque platform is developed together with a suspension system that is able to dampen shocks and is flexible to the dynamic road conditions in Indonesia.

The handling of the Agya is claimed to be more agile, stable, with a smaller body roll, thus improving driving quality.

The Electronic Power Steering (EPS) has also been improved to be more responsive with a smaller turning radius as one of the main requirements of a modern city car.

All New Agya GR Sport

Next, Toyota has transformed the Agya GR Sport to enhance its sporty feel in line with the needs and trends in the hatchback and city car segments today.

Special tuning has been applied to improve performance and handling, making the driving experience even more enjoyable.

To provide a more sporty appearance, the Toyota GR Sport model is equipped with an aero kit installed on the exterior with the aim of improving the aerodynamics of the existing sporty hatchback in the previous generation.

Toyota also claims that the addition of vehicle downforce allows it to maneuver with stability and agility without worrying about losing control. The grip of the tires is improved thanks to the redirected airflow, so as not to press the rear tires.

Inheriting the DNA of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) motorsports, Toyota has also made changes to the suspension system and EPS on the Agya GR Sport. 

The EPS on the GR Sport has a closer gear ratio to make it more agile when maneuvering. Exclusive shock absorbers and coil springs are also designed to provide maximum damping compared to the standard model. 

Meanwhile, specially selected sport tires are able to increase tire traction on straight roads and maintain grip on winding roads.

As for the price, Toyota has not provided details because the introduction is only a prototype in the world premiere of the world all new astra Toyota Agya and Toyota Agya GR Sport.

These two new models, carrying the "Exciting City Car" concept and equipped with the latest Toyota technology, are ready to support the diverse mobility needs of customers, in accordance with their tagline "Move with No Boundaries."
