Example of Saudi Arabia, Erick Thohir Will Create an Application for Football Fans in Indonesia

Dream - The Chairman of the All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir met with the President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), Yaser Al Misehal, at the FIFA congress in Rwanda, Africa.

In the meeting, he discussed Indonesia's preparations as the host of the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Erick expressed his gratitude to SAFF for their support.

"Alhamdulillah, SAFF is ready to help make the FIFA U-20 World Cup a success in Indonesia, even though the Saudi Arabian team did not qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup," said Erick quoted from his official Instagram account @erickthohir.

Erick revealed that Yaser welcomed their desire for SAFF to assist PSSI in building football infrastructure, youth development, and other collaborations.

Erick was elected as the Chairman of PSSI for the 2023-2027 period through the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) on Thursday, February 16, 2023, replacing Mochamad Iriawan whose term had ended.

The former President of Inter Milan also wants to bring new breakthroughs to PSSI by following SAFF's example in creating an application for football fans in Saudi Arabia.

"I also want SAFF to assist PSSI in building a mobile application for football fans in Indonesia. The MySAFF mobile application is very effective in increasing the engagement of Saudi Arabian football fans and providing information to fans about football in Saudi Arabia," said Erick.

Waiting for Erick Thohir's Surprises in PSSI

Dream - Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia congratulated Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir after being elected as the Chairman of the All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) for the 2023-2027 period.

Bahlil sees Erick's experience in managing European football clubs as giving hope for the advancement of Indonesian football.

"Who doesn't know Mr. Erick, he used to be the President of Inter Milan and several clubs in Europe. So I truly believe in how he can make Indonesian football the best," he said.

Bahlil also believes that Erick's professional character will bring various surprises to the world of Indonesian football.

"He is a professional, so there will definitely be many surprises that we will face," he said.

Erick Thohir Becomes Chairman of PSSI

Dream - Erick Thohir officially became the elected Chairman of PSSI for the 2023-2027 period. Erick Thohir became the Chairman of PSSI after receiving 64 votes in the PSSI Extraordinary Congress (KLB) at the Shangri La Hotel on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Erick Thohir defeated three other competitors in the race for the number one position in PSSI. Erick Thohir received 64 votes, while La Nyalla Mattalitti received 22 votes.

The PSSI Election Committee (KP) previously announced five official candidates to compete for the position of chairman.

They are Erick Thohir, La Nyalla Mattalitti, Doni Setiabudi, Arif Putra Wicaksono, and Fary Djemy Francis.

Unfortunately, Fary Djemy Francis chose to withdraw from the election and transferred his support to Erick Thohir to replace Mochamad Iriawan as the new Chairman of PSSI.

"I entrust the future of our football to the 87 voters, to Mr. Erick Tohir, as well as to the elected Vice Chairman and Executive Committee. I support Mr. Erick with a series of important programs. He sees Erick as the most suitable figure to improve Indonesian football because he has high experience both in national and international football.
