Viral Video of Young Coconut Seller Refusing to Sell in Bulk, Viewed 4 Million Times, Genuine or Satirical?

However, not all merchants are willing to let their products be bought in bulk by customers. The seller must have a very strong reason why they are unwilling to sell all of their items.

This is the attitude shown by a young coconut seller in a video posted by the owner of the Tiktok account @stevenwongso_.

The video shows a man approaching the woman who sells young coconuts, and asking for the price per portion. The hijab-wearing seller answers that the young coconuts are sold for Rp10,000.

The potential buyer then offers a price that would usually be gladly accepted by any seller. The man offers to buy all of the young coconuts for Rp500,000.

"If I buy all of the coconuts for Rp500,000, would you agree?" the buyer asks.

The young coconut seller actually refuses to sell her goods in bulk. Instead of accepting Rp500,000, she suggests that the buyer pay a fair price.

However, the potential buyer insists on buying the young coconuts in bulk for Rp500,000. Once again, the seller rejects the man's efforts.

The seller's attitude confuses the buyer, who asks for the reason behind refusing to sell in bulk.

It turns out the young coconut seller is aware that the money offered by the man is because there is a camera recording the situation.

"At least, sir, if you want to share kindness, turn off the camera first," said the young coconut seller.

Hearing the woman's reason, the buyer becomes hesitant to buy in bulk. He says that if the camera is turned off, then no one else would know that he is doing a good deed.

The story in the content created by the TikToker received various responses from netizens. Most TikTokers were influenced by the narrative created by the young coconut seller about kindness not needing to be recorded.  

"Because sharing is not meant to be shown off, but with a sincere heart," wrote a netizen.

"In my opinion, sharing kindness in a video is not about showing off or anything, but it serves as inspiration for all of us.." wrote a netizen.

"At least use a hidden camera, because honestly, I like watching videos about sharing like that. I enjoy watching them," wrote a netizen.

However, not all netizens responded to the content innocently. Some TikTokers also saw the video as a form of sarcasm to mock content creators who make videos about sharing kindness with others. 

"Oh, it's a sarcastic story," wrote a netizen in the comments section.

Regardless of the creator's intention in making the video, the video has been viewed by many TikTokers more than 4.1 million times.
