Business Insider reported the Technology Correspondent Head of Bloomberg, Mark Gurman, stating that the iPhone 15 series will be launched at the Apple event on September 12 or September 13, with an estimated release date around September 22.

iPhone 15 is expected to come in four variants: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

In terms of design, Gurman reported that the iPhone 15 lineup will have thinner bezels compared to last year's version. And the iPhone 15 Pro model will have a titanium frame that feels lighter and more premium compared to the current stainless steel design.

Aside from design, price is one of the highly anticipated things for iPhone lovers.

Analyst Tim Long from Barclays said in an investment note that was first reported by MacRumors and has been quoted by many technology and financial publications.

That although the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are not expected to increase in price from year to year, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models are likely to experience price increases compared to their predecessors in the iPhone 14 series.

In return for the more durable titanium design with thinner bezels, the initial price of the iPhone 15 Pro is estimated to increase by $100 to $1,099, while the price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max could rise up to $200, with the projected starting prices being $1,119 or $1,299.

According to analysts and media reports, Apple will include a generic charging port alias USB Type-C at the bottom of the phone.

According to CNBC, this is the same charging port used in almost every laptop in recent years, as well as Android phones, iPads, and other gadgets such as Kindles, headphones, and drones.

The USB-C connector will replace Apple's Lightning port, which has adorned the bottom of every iPhone model released since 2012.

This inclusion of a new feature is one of the biggest upgrades to the iPhone in years for consumers.

iPhone users no longer need to carry two different cables for their phones and other gadgets while traveling. Android users can borrow chargers from people who have iPhones.

iPhone users can also borrow chargers from anyone using a laptop. Schools and businesses can standardize on one type of charger for their entire fleet of devices. USB-C even enables faster charging speeds for iPhones.

However, Apple has not confirmed that its new iPhones will feature USB-C charging ports.

New regulations enacted by the European Union last year require new smartphones to have USB-C ports by 2024. Apple is unlikely to produce iPhone models only for the European market.

"Clearly, we have to follow it," said Greg Joswiak, Apple's marketing chief, last year.

The European Union estimates that the regulation could save Europeans €250 million per year on chargers. The European Union also said that old chargers generate about 11,000 tons of electronic waste per year in the region.

Apple initially opposed it. In a letter in 2021, Apple said that the regulation would hinder future charging innovation, could require it to stop selling devices in the market earlier, and could confuse consumers with additional information.

"We are concerned that regulations that single out only one type of connector for all devices in the market would harm European consumers by restricting the advancement of beneficial innovation in charging technology, including safety and energy efficiency," Apple said in the letter.

Every time Apple changes the port on its devices, skeptics believe it is just an attempt to make more money from its premium cables. Apple's most capable USB-C cable is sold for $39.

For example, when Apple added USB-C chargers to MacBook laptops starting in 2015, it sparked jokes about the dongles needed to connect old accessories to the new laptops.

When Apple removed the headphone jack from the iPhone in 2016, it triggered comments for months, both supporting and opposing the "bold" change, about whether Apple was pushing people towards its more expensive wireless AirPods.
