The Most Beautiful Public Toilet in the World, Users Feel Like Entering a Palace

If many architects and billionaires compete for the title of the tallest skyscraper in the world, the owner of a shopping center in China has a different way to attract attention, especially from its visitors.

The management of Deji Plaza shopping center in Nanjing, China, built a public toilet that is claimed to be the most beautiful in the world. With its luxury, visitors who enter this toilet feel like they are in a palace.

The toilet is located on the sixth floor and was designed by X+Living, an architecture firm based in Shanghai.

According to Oddity Central, this toilet has a long corridor filled with plants growing from the walls. The bathroom area is designed as a “walking experience in a deep garden.”

Dozens of giant lamps illuminate visitors from above, with the light reflecting on the shiny floor.

At the end of the corridor, there is a lounge area complete with flower-inspired sofas. This is where visitors who don't need to use the toilet can wait for their friends.

The men's and women's facilities feature special decorations, complete with sinks. The height of the sinks varies, so they can be reached by children and adults.

"Restrooms in shopping centers are open public spaces for everyone. They accommodate busy urban people and provide them with a space to rest or refresh themselves," said designer Li Xiang.

There are so many things happening in this bathroom, from abstract geometry to shapes inspired by flowers and insects. There is even a luxurious dressing chair with many LED strips.

"During the design process, I didn't want to design it purely as a functional space, so we suggested emphasizing the design of the restroom, so it can reflect humanistic care in unexpected corners of shopping centers. That's why we came up with the concept of Sanctuary Garden," he added.
