Moment Jokowi Rides MRT with ASEAN Ambassadors, Next Month to Try Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train

Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will invite all Southeast Asian (ASEAN) Ambassadors to try the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train in September 2023.

The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train produced by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) will be the first in ASEAN.

This plan was announced by the Head of State after inviting the ambassadors to use the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) from Bundaran HI Station to ASEAN Station in Jakarta to attend the 56th ASEAN Anniversary at the ASEAN Secretariat Building on Tuesday morning.

"Earlier inside the MRT, the ambassadors requested to ride the high-speed train, next month I will also invite them," said Jokowi after commemorating the 56th ASEAN Anniversary at the ASEAN Secretariat Building in Jakarta, quoted from Liputan6.com, Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Invite to Ride MRT

When Jokowi invited the ambassadors to ride the MRT, he received a special edition ASEAN multi-trip card from the MRT director. This electronic card was also launched to commemorate the 56th ASEAN Anniversary.

Jokowi and the Ambassadors were also seen chatting and even had a moment of taking a selfie together, as seen in the official Instagram post @jokowi.

According to Jokowi, inviting the ambassadors to ride the MRT is not the first time it has been done. "Riding the MRT has been done back and forth," he said.

Therefore, the ambassadors requested Jokowi to try the high-speed train that is currently being tested.

The testing of the infrastructure for the high-speed train has begun since June 12, 2023, and is still ongoing in various operational areas of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train.

The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train is the first high-speed train service in Indonesia and Southeast Asia that will operate at speeds of up to 350 km per hour.

The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train has a track length of 142.3 kilometers with 13 tunnels and will stop at four stations: Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar.
