Out of Train Tickets for Long Idul Adha Holiday? Try This Alternative Way

Dream - For those who have run out of train tickets during the long Idul Adha weekend period (June 27 - July 2, 2023), don't give up just yet. PT Kereta Api Indonesia offers the option of traveling using connecting trains with interconnected schedules.

This service can be obtained through the connecting train feature when booking tickets through the KAI Access application.

"The Connecting Train feature on the KAI Access application will help provide travel options by combining connecting train schedules," said Joni in a written statement from the company on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

On its official website, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded a total of long-distance train tickets sold during the Idul Adha long weekend period per Monday, June 26, 2023, reaching 556,778 tickets, or an average of 92,796 tickets per day.

This number is equivalent to 74 percent of the total number of long-distance train tickets sold, which is 751,069 tickets.

Operating 1,340 Trains

So far, the favorite routes for people during the long weekend period are Jakarta - Bandung round trip, Jakarta - Surabaya round trip, Jakarta - Purwokerto round trip, Jakarta - Solo round trip, Yogyakarta - Banyuwangi round trip, and other routes.

PT KAI itself operates a total of 1,340 long-distance trains during the long weekend period. There is an addition of 18 train journeys compared to the previous week.

The added train journeys are KA Argo Parahyangan (Gambir - Bandung round trip), KA Manahan (Gambir - Solo Balapan round trip), KA Pandalungan (Gambir - Jember round trip), KA Sancaka (Yogyakarta - Surabaya Gubeng round trip), and KA Kaligung (Semarang Poncol - Cirebon Prujakan round trip).

"The increase in the number of train journeys is part of KAI's commitment to improve service to customers, especially during high seasons like this long weekend," said Joni.

Baggage Rules

KAI reminds customers to pay attention to the baggage rules, which include a maximum volume of 20 kg or a volume of 100 dm3 with maximum dimensions of 70 cm x 48 cm x 30 cm.

Baggage that exceeds the weight and/or size as mentioned, up to a maximum of 40 kg or with a volume of 200 dm3 (with maximum dimensions of 70 cm x 48 cm x 60 cm), is allowed to be carried by paying excess baggage fees or purchasing an extra seat.

The additional fees for baggage are Rp10,000.00 per kg for executive class, Rp6,000.00 per kg for business class, and Rp2,000.00 per kg for economy class.

In addition, passengers are not allowed to bring prohibited items into the train baggage, including flammable items, firearms/sharp weapons, narcotics, illegal drugs and other addictive substances, items with strong odors, and pets.
