Prayers During the Hajj Journey, From Departure to the Return of Pilgrims

Dream – Knowing the prayers during the Hajj journey is important for prospective pilgrims. The Hajj journey is a religious journey performed by Muslims to the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and is an obligation for every Muslim who has the physical and financial ability, and permission to undertake the journey to Mecca.

Prayers During the Hajj Journey When Starting the Departure

Prayers during the Hajj journey are recited with the aim of avoiding misguided thoughts and bad intentions. The Hajj journey must be intended with purity and without ulterior motives, so that the worship is accepted by the Almighty.

Therefore, when leaving home for the Hajj journey, recite the following prayer!

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ.رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أُضِلَّ أَوْ أُضَلَّ أَوْ أَزِلَّ أَوْ أُزَلَّ أَوْ أَظْلِمَ أَوْ أُظْلَمَ أَوْ أَجْهَلَ أَوْ يُجْهَلَ عَلَيَّ.اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي لَا أَحْرَجُ. وَلَا بَطَرَ. وَلَا رِيَاءً. وَلَا مَصَاحَةً بَلْ حَرَجْتُ اتِّقَاءَ سَخَطُكَ. وَابْتِغَاءَ مَرْضَاتِكَ. وَقَضْلَ فَرْضَاتِكَ. وَاتِّبَاعِ سُنَّةِ نَبِيِّكَ. وَشَوْقًا إِلَى لِقَائِكَ.

Artinya: “Dengan menyebut nama Allah, aku bertawakal kepada Allah, tidak ada kekuatan selain kekuatan Allah. Tuhanku, aku berlindung kepada-Mu dari kesesatan dan yang menyesatkan, dari tergelincir dan yang digelincirkan, dari perbuatan dzalim dan didzalimi atau mengganggu dan diganggu. Ya Allah aku keluar bukan untuk kejelekan tidak pula terburu-buru, tidak karena riya dan pamer, tapi aku keluar untuk menjauhi amarah-Mu dan mengharap keridhaan-Mu, dan untuk menunaikan Engkau wajibkan, dan mengikuti sunah nabi-Mu, dan karena kerinduan ingin bertemu dengan-Mu”

Prayers During the Hajj Journey When Boarding the Plane

The journey of Hajj from the Homeland to the Holy Land takes a long time. The Indonesian group will board a plane divided into several departure clusters. In order to always be under the protection of Allah during the flight, read the prayer below!

للهُ أَكْبَر، اللهُ أكْبر، الله أكْبَر، سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا، وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ، اللهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى، اللهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا، وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ، اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ، اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ، وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ، وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Subhanalladzi sakkhoro lana hadza wa maa kunnaa lahu muqrinin, wa innaa ilaa robbinaa lamunqolibun, allahumma inna nas'aluka fii safarinaa hadzal birro wat taqwa wa minal 'amal maa tardho, allahumma hawwin 'alaina safarona hadza wa athwi 'annaa bu'dahu, allahumma antas shohibu fis safari wal kholifatu fil ahli, allahumma inni a'udzubika min wa'tsaais safari wa kaabatil mandzhori wa suuil munqolibi fil maali wal ahli

Meaning: "Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. Glorified is Allah who has made this (plane) subservient to us, whereas we were not capable of subduing it, and indeed to our Lord we will return. O Allah, we ask You for goodness, piety, and deeds that You are pleased with. O Allah, make our journey easy for us, and shorten the distance for us. O Allah, You are our companion in traveling and the one in charge of our family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the difficulties of traveling, a miserable sight, and a bad return in wealth and family."

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from fatigue in traveling, depressing sights, and a bad return in wealth and family."

Prayer Upon Entering Mecca

Visiting the city of Mecca is the dream of every Muslim. This is because Mecca is the city where the Kaaba and the Masjid al-Haram are located. When entering this holy city, it is recommended to recite the following prayer as part of the Hajj journey:

اَللّٰهُمَّ هٰذَا حَرَمُكَ وَأَمْنُكَ فَحَرِّمْ لَحْمِيْ وَدَمِيْ وَشَعْرِيْ وَبَشَرِيْ عَلَى النَّارِ وَاٰمِنِّيْ مِنْ عَذَابِكَ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ وَاجْعَلْنِيْ مِنْ أَوْلِيَآئِكَ وَأَهْلِ طَاعَتِكَ

Allahumma hadza haramuka wa amnuka, fa-harrimni 'alan-nari, wa amminni min 'adzábika yawma tab'atsu ibáduka, waj'alni min awliya'ika wa ahli thalatika.

Meaning: "O Allah, this is Your sanctuary and Your safe place. So protect me from the fire, and save me from Your punishment on the day when Your servants are resurrected. Make me among Your beloved ones and those who are obedient to You."

Prayer Upon Entering Masjid al-Haram During the Hajj Journey

When entering the area of Masjid al-Haram for worship, it is recommended to recite the following prayer!

اَللّٰهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ فَحَيِّنَا رَبَّنَا بِالسَّلَامِ وَأَدْخِلْنَا الْجَنَّةَ دَارَالسَّلَامَ تَبَارَكْتَ وَتَعَالَيْتَ يَا ذَاالْجَلَالِ وَاْلإِكْرَامِ. اَللّٰهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِيْ أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَمَغْفِرَتِكَ وَأَدْخِلْنِيْ فِيْهَا. بِسْمِ اللهِ وَالْحَمْدُ ِللهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلٰى رَسُوْلِ اللهِ

Allahumma antassalaam, waminkassalaam fahayyinaa rabbanaa bissalaam wa adkhilnal jannata daarassalaam tabaarakta wata’aalaita yaa dzaljalaali wal ikraam.Allahummaftah lii abwaaba rahmatika wamaghfiratika wa adkhilnii fiihaa.Bismillahi walhamdulillahi wasshalaatu wassalaamu ‘alaa rasuulillaah.

Meaning: “O Allah, You are the source of peace, and from You comes all peace. So grant us life, O our Lord, in peace, and enter us into the paradise of eternal peace. Blessed and exalted are You, O Possessor of majesty and honor. O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy and forgiveness, and admit me into it. In the name of Allah, and all praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.”

Prayers During the Return Hajj Journey

From the companion Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, along with his companions recited this prayer throughout the journey until they arrived at his residence, the city of Madinah. In the book by Imam An-Nawawi titled Al-Idhah fi Manasikil Hajj, here is the recitation of prayers during the return Hajj journey that pilgrims need to recite:
