Surah Al-Fil is one of the most popular surahs among Muslims. Its short length makes it easy to memorize. Surah Al-Fil is often recited in obligatory and voluntary prayers. Not only is it easy to memorize, but Surah Al-Fil is also well-known among Muslims for its story from the past, which proves the greatness of Allah SWT in driving away King Abrahah and his elephant army.
Therefore, whoever recites this Surah Al-Fil, there are many virtues. Here are some important virtues of reciting Surah Al-Fil:
The first virtue of reciting Surah Al-Fil is the dhikr (remembrance) to achieve victory. When this surah is recited during a battle, it is believed that it can make the enemy flee on their own. This is because the enemy is haunted by great fear. Especially if Surah Al-Fil is recited directly to the leader who is leading the battle, then there will be the power of Allah SWT that will help in the battle.
Another virtue of reciting Surah Al-Fil is that it becomes a support to fight against oppressors. In daily life, this surah can be practiced by Sahabat Dream to protect the house from oppressors. With that, your house will always be under the protection of Allah SWT and its inhabitants can live in the house peacefully, comfortably, and calmly.
The virtue of reciting Surah Al-Fil is to fight against enemy disturbances. Considering that evil can happen anywhere, especially for those who are experiencing a battle. The tense atmosphere and the presence of oppressors can cause fear. However, by reciting Surah Al-Fil, it is able to protect oneself from enemy threats, including during a battle or from the enemy of oppressors. By reciting Surah Al-Fil, then, God willing, Allah SWT will eliminate that fear and provide protection from enemy attacks that threaten the soul.
In this life, we may encounter evil people. We ourselves do not know what form of evil will be done and when it will happen. Therefore, one form of effort to protect oneself is by reciting a prayer, namely Surah Al-Fil.
Reciting Surah Al-Fil is recommended to be recited during the Fajr prayer. Previously, in the first raka'ah, recite Surah Al-Insyirah. This is believed to bring goodness to those who recite it. Then, in the second raka'ah, recite Surah Al-Fil.
Those are the recitations of Surah Al-Fil in Arabic, Latin, and their meanings that Sahabat Dream can memorize. Even if you frequently recite Surah Al-Fil, there are various virtues that can be obtained by those who practice it.
The tafsir scholars explain that the main content of Surah Al-Fil is about the military expedition of Abrahah with various narrations. One narration states that Abrahah was actually a governor in the Najashi region, Yemen. At that time, he built a large church in Yemen. He wanted the cathedral he built to be the biggest church that had ever existed before.
His ambition did not stop there, he then wanted to force the Arab people to change their qibla from the Ka'bah to that church. After obtaining permission from the King of Najashi, Abrahah launched his attack on the city of Mecca with an army riding elephants.
Actually, the desire to destroy the Ka'bah stemmed from envy towards the Arab people. Many people flocked to Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage. This triggered a large economic circulation there. This is what made Abrahah want to change the qibla to Yemen.
During the journey to the city of Mecca, the elephant army fought against every Arab inhabitant they passed. The news of the attack quickly reached the people of Mecca, that Abrahah had a mission to destroy the Ka'bah. The people of Mecca were worried and frightened upon hearing this news.
When he was about to enter the city, Abrahah sent an envoy named Aswad bin Maqsud to negotiate with the people of Mecca. The envoy of Abrahah held a consultation with the Quraish elders, including the grandfather of Prophet Muhammad SAW, Abdul Muttalib.
Abdul Muttalib decided to give hundreds of camels to the envoy in order to thwart the invasion plan of Mecca. Many Quraish tribes were disappointed with this decision because they wanted to kill the envoy of Abrahah.
In general, the main content of Surah Al-Fil is to invite the Prophet Muhammad and his people, including the Quraysh, to observe the signs of Allah's power, especially from history.
Surah Al-Fil reminds the Quraysh of Allah's blessings, which are providing them with security and saving them from the army of Abrahah that intended to destroy the Ka'bah.
It is very easy for Allah to help whom He wills. And it is very easy for Allah to destroy whom He wants to destroy. It is also very easy for Allah to bring about ways and means of destruction for His enemies.
This surah affirms the mighty power of Allah, and all powers submit to His power. So whoever is protected by Him, no one can harm him. On the other hand, whoever is destroyed by Allah, no one can protect him.
It is very easy for Allah to help whom He wills. And it is very easy for Allah to destroy whom He wants to destroy. It is also very easy for Allah to bring about ways and means of destruction for His enemies.
