Dream - Bank Indonesia (BI) and banks still limit cash exchange to Rp3.8 million per person before Eid in 2023. This limitation is carried out for the fairness and expansion of cash services.

"We still maintain the package of Rp3.8 million for one person, where each denomination of Rp1,000 to Rp20,000 is one pack," said Marlison Hakim, Executive Director of the Money Management Department of BI, quoted from Merdeka.com, on Monday, March 20, 2023.

In each exchange, people will receive packages of banknotes in denominations of Rp1,000, Rp2,000, Rp5,000, Rp10,000, and Rp20,000.

For exchange, people can directly go to banks in their respective areas, or come directly to the branch office of Bank Indonesia, or through the Pintar application.

"For people who want to know where the exchange locations are, when the time is, they can do it through the Pintar application by registering and bringing proof of exchange services at the desired time," he said.

Can Exchange Without the Pintar Application

Realizing that there are still many people who cannot use the Pintar application, BI will still provide direct money exchange services at thousands of locations in Indonesia. This facility is intentionally provided based on the experience of the past two years.

"The main thing is that during Ramadan and Eid, we can serve the community widely," he said.

Marlison urged people to exchange cash through official places such as Bank Indonesia or banks. Do not exchange cash with individuals offering on the roadside, as counterfeit money may be circulated.

"We are working with local governments because not all of them occupy places that are actually not allowed. We urge local governments to regulate these money activities," he said.
