Sneak Peek of the Luxurious Oscar 2023 Goodie Bag Worth IDR 1.9 Billion, from a Slice of Bread to Home Renovation

Dream - The highest film award event in the world, the 95th Academy Awards, took place on Monday, March 13, 2023 (Indonesia time) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Many global film industry players have won the highly coveted Oscar trophy. However, those who did not win also took home a bag with fantastic prizes.

Quoted from an NDTV report from Independent, those who did not make it to the winner's list but were nominated for an Oscar took home a gift bag worth US$126,000 or approximately IDR 1.93 billion (exchange rate IDR 15,389).

The bag, named “Everyone Wins”, is given every year to Oscar nominees. It is given to those nominated in the major categories such as Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Director. 

The bag is distributed by a Los Angeles-based company called Distinctive Assets since 2002.

According to The Guardian, this year's Oscar gift bag consists of items ranging from Japanese milk bread and a trip to an Italian island to cosmetic treatments and a plot of land in Australia. The bag contains a total of 60 gifts.

Oscar nominees will enjoy a three-night stay for eight people worth US$9,000 (IDR 138 million) at an Italian lighthouse, including a US$40,000 (IDR 615 million) vacation to a 10-hectare Canadian estate called The Lifestyle, according to Forbes.

Speaking of the Italian lighthouse, Lash Fary, the founder of Distinctive Assets, told Forbes that it is a "unique place that offers inherent privacy for a celebrity." 

He added, "It is a hillside lighthouse on an island off the coast of Italy, very private."

In addition, they will receive a home renovation package worth US$25,000 (IDR 384 million) from Maison Constructions.

Cosmetic items worth US$41,000 (IDR 630 million) are also included in the bag, including lipo arm sculpting, hair restoration, and facelifts.

Then, there is a slice of Japanese milk bread from Ginza Nishikawa priced at US$18 (IDR 277,000). And one pack of Clif Thins worth US$13.56 (IDR 208,000) is also part of the goodie bag.
