Dream – American preacher, Sheikh Uthman ibn Farooq, is amazed and praises the tolerance of Indonesian society that runs well despite living in various diversities.Â
The praise was conveyed by Sheikh Uthman when visiting the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) office in Jakarta recently as part of his first preaching tour to the country and several countries in Southeast Asia.Â
Sheikh Uthman will travel for nine days from March 9-17 to explore the world of Islam in this Muslim-majority country.Â
"I am very happy to meet my Muslim brothers in Indonesia, and I hope that we can contribute to each other in preaching," said Sheikh Uthman when meeting with KH Cholil Nafis as the Head of the MUI Preaching Division and his staff.Â
Sheikh Uthman's presence received enthusiastic responses from the public, such as when he visited students at Darussalam University and students at Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding School in Ponorogo, East Java, as uploaded on his Instagram account, @gemsofshaykhuthman.
It is known that since his arrival in Jakarta, Sheikh Uthman has also visited Muhammadiyah University in Surakarta.
“Alhamdulillah, thousands of students met him and we are grateful to have been warmly welcomed by the Gontor Kyai," said Dondy Tan, the organizer committee and also the translator, in his statement on Monday, March 13, 2023.
In this visit, Dondy Tan, who is also known as a YouTuber, along with Hanny Kristianto as a representative of several foundation institutions, tried to maximize Sheikh Uthman's activities so that the people of Indonesia could experience the knowledge shared by the sheikh.
It is known that the seminars delivered by Sheikh Uthman are open to all ages, backgrounds, and religions. Participants can attend Sheikh Uthman's seminars for free by contacting the committee at each event.
Dondy hopes that the presence of the preacher who has converted around 2,000 people in the US can inspire Muslims in Indonesia about how to preach gently and scientifically, which has had a great influence on European society converting to Islam.
