The Story of the Running Stone that Carried the Clothes of a Shy Prophet

Dream - It is narrated that the men of the Children of Israel used to bathe together, so it is not surprising that they saw each other's nakedness. However, Prophet Moses never wanted to do that because of his shyness.

According to NU Online, because of his shyness, Prophet Moses never wanted to bathe together and chose to bathe alone. So no one ever saw his body.

Because of that, ignorant people from the Children of Israel spread false rumors and accusations that there was a hidden disease behind the covering of Prophet Moses' body.

Of course, those accusations hurt the heart of Prophet Moses, so Allah is not pleased to see the lies directed at His Prophet. Because it will reduce the trust of the people in him.

Meanwhile, in the eyes of humans, a messenger must appear as the most perfect figure who has no flaws in both physical and moral aspects.

One time, Allah willed to free Moses from all those accusations in an unexpected way. When Prophet Moses was bathing alone, his clothes were placed on a stone. However, when he took his clothes, the stone suddenly disappeared.

It turned out that the stone moved and flew carrying Prophet Moses' clothes, even though the stone is an inanimate object that cannot move. However, nothing is impossible when Allah wills it.

Moses was amazed to see the stone carrying his clothes flying. Unconsciously, he ran after the stone while calling out, "My clothes, O stone. My clothes."

Moses, a very shy prophet, suddenly ran naked behind the stone carrying his clothes. Until, he arrived in front of a group of the Children of Israel and witnessed for himself how perfect Prophet Moses' body was without any flaws.

All the suspicions thrown by foolish people at him were erased. The stone that took Moses' clothes stopped, and Prophet Moses immediately took his clothes.

But after that, Prophet Moses hit the stone as if he was striking someone who had done evil and injustice to him.

Strangely, even though Prophet Moses' staff was made of wood, it was able to leave marks on the stone he struck, leaving several marks. Whereas generally, a wooden staff should break when struck against a hard object.

But Prophet Moses' staff is not just any staff created by Allah. It is very strong and has several other special qualities.

One of them is being able to leave marks on the stone that carried his clothes, even visible up to six or seven strikes.

This story is then mentioned in a hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari through the companion Abu Hurairah. Then, this story is also mentioned in the Qur'an, Surah Al-Ahzab verse 69, which means:

"O you who have believed, be not like those who harmed Moses; then Allah cleared him of what they said. And Moses was, in the sight of Allah, distinguished."

From this story, the wisdom that can be taken is that nothing is impossible for Allah. Including when He willed to free Moses from all accusations.
