Woman's Culture Shock Moving to the Village Gets a Richer Domestic Worker: 'I Thought I Was Poor'

Dream - Working as a domestic worker is often seen as a job for the lower class. However, their presence is essential for married couples to help manage the household.  

This assumption arises because the job does not require educational qualifications. Applicants are only required to demonstrate housekeeping skills and a good attitude as a domestic worker.

However, the story of this woman went viral after sharing her experience of hiring a domestic worker who turned out to be richer.

In a tweet on the @muthiastp account, she said she had just moved to the village and experienced culture shock with the economy of the people in her current location.

Because she had just moved, she was confused about finding a domestic worker. Luckily, she found a resident who was experienced based on a neighbor's recommendation.

"So I was looking for a domestic worker and asked for a neighbor's recommendation. Then I found a mother who was willing to help clean," she wrote.

It was later discovered that the domestic worker owned rice fields and abundant wealth in her hometown.

"Then later I know, it turns out this mother has a rice field. 🥲," she wrote.

She said that her domestic worker also had side jobs such as selling food in front of her house.

In addition, she often took vegetables from her own garden to sell.

"Then I saw her often selling food in front of her house. She took vegetables for her food stall from her own garden,” she said.

Since she already had a lot of money, the domestic worker did not even set a monthly salary. Every time she asked, the domestic worker only asked for whatever she was willing to give.

“When asked how much her salary was, she just said 'it's up to you' because she just wants to help people. If that's the case, maybe I should be the one giving her pocket money,” she said.

The tweet shared on Twitter immediately went viral. Various comments flooded the post.

"Usually they have rice fields, land, and houses, my neighbors are like this. Even though they have a house, they still work as farmers/domestic workers/market vendors," wrote @nisabee.
