Dream - It is highly recommended to bring children to the mosque from a young age. This is so that they become accustomed to worshiping together, experiencing the warmth of congregational prayer, and being close to righteous individuals.
"Unfortunately, parents often hesitate to take their children to the mosque because they tend to be noisy and afraid of disturbing other worshippers. Sometimes, it is indeed difficult to control and instruct children, and they end up running and playing, even joking and shouting inside the mosque."
Then how should parents behave if their child is noisy in the mosque? Quoted from BincangSyariah.com, there are not many narrations that tell about the involvement of children in religious activities during the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, especially in relation to congregational prayer in the mosque.
However, some of them tell the story of the life of the Prophet with his beloved grandsons, Saydina Hasan and Husain. A narration of hasan degree is narrated by Imam Ibn Abi Syaibah, Ahmad, Abu Daud, Tirmidzi, Nasa'i, al-Baihaqi, Abu Ya'la, Ibn Khuzaimah, Ibn Hibban, and Imam Hakim in their works.
The history is sourced from Buraidah where he narrates that one time the Prophet was giving a sermon in front of the Muslims, suddenly Hasan and Husain appeared while playing in between the rows. They were engrossed in conversation while walking, continuously falling, getting up, and standing again.
Seeing this, the Prophet felt pity and came down from the pulpit, then carried both of them. Then he said, "Truly, Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth when they said that wealth and children are a trial. When I saw both of them, I couldn't resist carrying them." Then the Prophet continued his sermon.
Meanwhile, in the Musnad Imam Ahmad, which is sourced from Abi Hurairah with a good quality narration, it is told that one night the Muslim community performed Isha prayer together with Prophet Muhammad (SAW). When he prostrated, suddenly Sayidina Hasan and Husain climbed onto the back of the Prophet, and he lifted his head while gently holding them with his hands. Then, the Prophet sat them beside him and continued the prayer. They repeated the same action until the Prophet finished the prayer.
After greeting, the Prophet sat them on his lap. Then Abu Hurairah stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me take them home to their mother." Then the Prophet replied, "No need." He spoke directly to Hasan and Husain gently, "Go back to your mother's house!" While walking, illuminated by flickering lightning, they both went back to Fatimah's house.
This hadith is also narrated by Imam al-Hakim in his Mustadrak and he states that this hadith is authentic, although it is not narrated by Imam Bukhari and Muslim. A similar statement is also conveyed by Imam al-Dhahabi in his commentary on the book al-Mustadrak.
In the following hadiths, it is clear that the Prophet did not get angry or prohibit children from going and gathering with adults in the mosque, even during the congregation prayer. For further explanation, read here.
