Pinkan Mambo's Confession: Having Only Rp10 Thousand, Buys 1 Liter of Rice

Dream - Pinkan Mambo tells a bitter story of her past when she was no longer active in the entertainment world. Pinkan admitted that in order to support her six children, she used to sell bananas.

She was willing to sell bananas using a motorcycle while taking her children from one stall to another. Pinkan was not ashamed to be called a famous singer and artist.

Pinkan was also willing to collect small change starting from two to five thousand. That amount of money was far from Pinkan's income when she was still a famous singer.

"I sold fried bananas from stall to stall using a motorcycle with my child, I only made a profit of five thousand, two thousand, I collected small change, it was very sad. Usually, I used to treat my friends from one end to the other with a bundle of money (before), if the money was not finished, I wouldn't go home. The former member of the duo Ratu also admitted that she only had Rp10,000 from the profits of selling bananas around. Pinkan used that money to buy one liter of rice.

"I collected a profit of Rp10,000 from selling, then I went to the minimart. I told Misya (Pinkan's child), with ten thousand rupiahs, what should we buy," said Pinkan while crying.

Since there was no additional money, Pinkan said that she could only buy one liter of rice and one bottle of syrup for herself and her children.

"Okay, let's buy one liter or half a liter of rice, then the children need vitamins, so what should we buy, not fruit. We buy syrup so that the children have nutrition," added Pinkan.

Not only that, Pinkan admitted that she had been trapped in debt amounting to Rp100 million. She was often chased by debt collectors who kept coming to her house.

"I had a lot of debt, more than Rp100 million. Not to mention Rp100 million, I didn't even have Rp100,000. The debt collector said that I had to pay Rp20 million, but I only had Rp5,000, where would I get the money? Because I used to be a singer, I didn't know how to think and I couldn't sing anymore," said Pinkan.

"I didn't know how to live a difficult life, I didn't understand selling (before). I didn't know what job to do (after I stopped being a singer), I didn't have a job for five years," added Pinkan.

However, since she struggled to sell and use her brain, she was finally able to develop that business. She started to pay off her debt by Rp5 million every month.

"But God gave me a way out of my debt, I can pay off Rp5 million every month. I imagined going to jail when I was paying off my debt, I was very sad if I couldn't see my children," said Pinkan.
