"After arriving at IKN, this rail-less train will be tested internally. It will then continue with a joint trial with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on August 5, 2024. Then, the plan for the showcase or demonstration will be carried out from October to December 2024."

He explained that the operation of the autonomous tram in the initial phase of the IKN will function as a feeder vehicle for participants of the August 17, 2024 ceremony. This mode of transportation will operate on the West National Axis Road and the East National Axis Road of IKN at a speed of 40 km per hour.

"I hope this autonomous tram can become one of the icons of smart transportation in the IKN area. It is also hoped that the autonomous tram can be applied in other cities in Indonesia, such as Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Makassar, and Medan," he said. Furthermore, Budi explained that one autonomous tram trainset that will operate in IKN has three carriages with a maximum capacity of 302 passengers. This autonomous tram will operate clockwise, with a headway of about 5 minutes."

"The Ministry of PUPR will soon build a stop to support the operation of the autonomous tram. The stop that will be built is not only useful as a place for passengers to board and alight, but it will also function as a charging station," concluded Budi. As for the operational scheme during the trial period, it will implement free tickets for passengers from August to December 2024."
