"Age Limit for Presidential Candidates"

It is known, there are several matters related to the material test of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections which was decided today. The lawsuit concerns case 107/PUU-XXI/2023 regarding the Material Testing of the Election Law with petitioner Rudy Hartono, who requested a maximum age limit of 70 years for presidential candidates. The Constitutional Court will also pronounce a decision on case 104/PUU-XXI/2023 regarding the material test of the Election Law with petitioner Gulfino Guevarrato.

Gulfino requested that individuals who have run for president twice should not be allowed to run again. At the same time, there is also a lawsuit from three citizens who have empowered the Alliance of 98 Lawyers for Democracy and Human Rights, who want the maximum age limit to be set at 70 years. The next case to be decided by the Constitutional Court is case 102/PUU-XXI/2023 regarding the constitutional review of the Election Law with applicants Wiwit Ariyanto, Rahayu Fatika Sari, and Rio Saputro. They are requesting that the maximum age limit for presidential candidates be 70 years and that they have never been injured due to human rights violations.
