Not only local residents, but also passing drivers were startled as the crocodile suddenly crossed the road and nearly hit a passing car. The surrounding residents panicked and tried to protect themselves by grabbing a block to drive away the crocodile. In the midst of the panic, the cold-blooded animal ended up entering a workshop owned by a resident.

A resident who was at the workshop tried to take a wooden beam to scare away the crocodile by hitting its head. Instead of leaving, the crocodile resisted by opening its mouth ready to attack. As a result, the resident gave up and let the crocodile take shelter in the workshop. Many suspected that the crocodile just wanted to seek shelter from the rain in the workshop.

"Kutai Timur Fire and Rescue Department (DPKP) officer, Amir, stated that the crocodile has been evacuated by the residents and brought to the DPKP Kutim office in Jaka AW Syahranie. 'The residents took the initiative to capture and hand it over to us,' said Amir, as quoted from Korankaltim."

It is estimated that the crocodile is about one meter or more in size. For the time being, the wild animal with the Latin name Crocodylidae is being kept in the office yard area while waiting for a response from the East Kalimantan Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA). "Usually, if the size is small, less than two meters, it will be rehabilitated to its habitat. But we are still waiting for instructions from BKSDA," concluded Amir.
