Dream - A technology company in China, Insta360, has received praise on social media for its unique initiative in encouraging employees to lose weight. Based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, the company has allocated nearly one million yuan or around Rp2.27 billion for a weight loss program for its staff.

The initiative that has been started since the beginning of last year has attracted the attention of 150 workers who participated in the program. The total weight loss of the hundreds of employees has reached 800 kilograms. As reported by SCMP, the cash bonus given to the participants amounted to a total of 980,000 yuan or approximately Rp2.2 billion.

Until now, five camps have been held. With an increasing number of employees interested in the program, the company has decided to prioritize the quota given to those who are experiencing obesity. Participants are divided into three groups. Two groups with 10 people each, and one group with five people.

Every week, the participants will be weighed and their weight will be observed. Every group that successfully reduces an average of 0.5 kg per member will receive a prize of 400 yuan or IDR 898 thousand. However, if there is a member whose weight increases, the whole group will not receive a bonus and each member will be fined 500 yuan.

According to the report, none of the participants experienced weight gain during the first three months of this program. The technical training of the employees, combined in several groups, can motivate them to exercise more diligently. This is because it adds a moral dimension for the employees to not disappoint their fellow group members.

Li, who joined this program last November, successfully reduced his weight from over 90 kg to 72.5 kg in three months. He did physical exercises such as running, swimming, and playing basketball every day. Not only that, he also maintained a healthy diet. As a result, he received a total bonus of 7,410 yuan, equivalent to around Rp16.6 million.

"After losing weight, I feel much better. My chin is sharper, my stomach is smaller, and I feel lighter and more energetic when playing basketball," he said.
