Dream - Memorizing is something important in life. Like memorizing phone numbers, memorizing account numbers, memorizing job descriptions, and so on. However, sometimes someone easily forgets something that should be remembered.
Especially for students, memorizing and understanding lessons is very important to support academic abilities. Usually, by memorizing, someone will understand a subject. Because each person's learning style is different, some understand first before memorizing. There are also those who memorize first before understanding.
There is a prayer that can be practiced so that we are protected from the disaster of knowledge, which is forgetfulness. Narrated by Habib Ahmad bin Hasan Al-Athas, there was a man who came to the Prophet Muhammad with a complaint, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed I am a forgetful person, please teach us something." Then the Prophet Muhammad taught the following phrase to be read three times a day:
Allahummaj'al nafsii muthmainnah, tu'minu biliqaika, wa taqna'u bi'athaika, wa tardha biqadhaika, laa hawlaa wa laa quwwata illaa billaahil 'aliyyil 'Azhiim. Translation: O Allah, make my soul content, believe in Your meeting, and find satisfaction in Your decree. There is no power or strength except with Allah, the Exalted, the Mighty.
"O Allah, make our souls calm, believe in the meeting with You, feel content with Your blessings, and be willing to accept the destiny You have determined. And there is no power or effort except with the help of Allah, the Most High and the Most Great."
The following are some tips to help reduce the possibility of forgetting:
1. Brain Exercise Brain exercises such as crossword puzzles, memory games, or playing brain games can help improve brain performance and memory. 2. Stay Physically Active Research shows that regular physical activity can enhance cognitive function and memory. Exercising regularly helps increase blood flow to the brain and stimulates the growth of new brain cells.
3. Consume Healthy Food Consume nutritious foods such as fruits, vegetables, fatty fish, grains, and legumes to support brain health and memory. 4. Avoid Excessive Stress Chronic stress can affect cognitive function, including memory. Practice relaxation techniques such as meditation, yoga, or breathing exercises to help reduce stress. 5. Get Enough Sleep Adequate sleep is crucial for optimal brain performance. Lack of sleep can impact memory and overall cognitive abilities.
Focus on the most important tasks or information can help improve memory. If there is a lot of information, try using grouping techniques or taking notes to help maintain focus.
Trying to repeat new information that you want to remember can help strengthen memory. For example, after learning something, repeat or talk about it to reinforce understanding.
Associating new information with something already known or using creative imagination can help strengthen memory.
Creating a list, using a calendar or reminder application, or making important notes is an effective way to help remember tasks or important schedules. Improving memory is a process that takes time and consistency. By applying some tips above, over time you can help enhance memory abilities.
