Archaeologists discovered signs of human life that are 86,000 years old in İnkaya Cave in Çanakkale, Turkey.
I was discovered during the survey of the Mugla and Çanakkale Provinces in 2016. Excavation was conducted under the guidance of Ismail Özer, a lecturer from the Department of Paleoanthropology at Ankara University, along with his team consisting of 20 members.
The findings from the excavation indicate that humans in the Middle Paleolithic Era inhabited the area for a long period of time due to the availability of flint or firestone raw materials, as well as water resources. In various layers of the cave, the research team also discovered various ancient tools, including flint stones used by humans in the Paleolithic era for various purposes.
Although many excavation activities have been carried out in Turkey, especially in open areas, excavation in caves is still very limited. Most excavation activities tend to be focused in the southern region, such as in the extensive Ä°nkaya Cave that extends to Western Anatolia.

Until now, the research team has not found any traces of organic materials such as human skeletons, animal bones, or plant remains that indicate human food. The current excavation process has only revealed artifacts made of flint stone. Gua Ä°nkaya, formed from flint stone formations, was chosen by ancient humans because it provided essential tools as raw materials for daily needs.
The translation of the provided Bahasa text to English while preserving the HTML tags is as follows: Excavations in the \u0130nkaya Cave have significant value as it is the only known cave in Western Anatolia. This research provides new insights into the human journey between Anatolia and the Balkans during the Paleolithic Era. This year, the excavation in the \u0130nkaya Cave received official support from the Turkish Historical Society.
