Launched at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024, eCanter becomes the first electric truck marketed in Indonesia. As a new breakthrough, the question arises whether electric trucks still need to undergo KIR testing?

Sales and Marketing Director of KTB Aji Jaya said, as a commercial vehicle, electric trucks also have to undergo a roadworthiness test like conventional trucks. "Because this is a commercial vehicle, the process is definitely the same, the treatment must be the same, KIR must be done," said Aji Jaya at GIIAS 2024, Thursday, July 19, 2024.

"However, he does not yet know whether there are any differences between the electric truck KIR testing process and the conventional truck. This is because this product has just been marketed in Indonesia."

"\u201cBut is there any difference in the KIR process? We don't have any experience yet. KIR is done every 6 months. Right now, there is no information about the differences, the KIR process must be done, but we haven't checked what the differences are in the process,\u201d he said."

The KIR testing process itself is closely related to safety because it is used to determine whether a vehicle is fit for operation or not. As information, KTB officially handed over the eCanter electric truck to its first buyer, PT Yusen Logistic Indonesia, on Thursday, July 18, 2024. This handover took place at the GIIAS 2024 event in ICE BSD, Tangerang.

Before launching the eCanter in Indonesia, Mitsubishi Fuso went through various stages. Starting from trials with 10 major companies in Indonesia, intensive socialization, and finally conducting official sales and delivering vehicles to customers. Last year, PT Yusen Logistic Indonesia was one of the companies involved in the eCanter trial. It was deemed satisfactory, and PT Yusen Logistic Indonesia finally decided to adopt the electric eCanter truck to strengthen its fleet.

"Mitsubishi Fuso is the pioneer of Electric Trucks in Indonesia and today, PT. Yusen Logistic Indonesia will be the first pioneer user of eCanter in Indonesia. Many loyal customers of PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia have already attended. Hopefully, the delivery of this unit will bring Yusen's business to further development in the future."
